Our Story

Miramar Transmission was founded by Frank over three decades ago, driven by a passion for cars and a desire to deliver exceptional transmission repair services to the San Diego community. From day one, Frank and his family have worked tirelessly to build a business that stands for quality and reliability.

What started as a small operation has grown into a respected and well-known name in the Miramar area. Over the years, we've expanded our facilities and brought on board some of the most skilled technicians in the industry, all while staying true to the values that Frank instilled from the very beginning.

Our Facility

At Miramar Transmission, we take pride in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our shop is equipped with nine lifts/bays, allowing us to handle multiple vehicles efficiently and with the utmost care. Among these is a super heavy-duty truck lift, uniquely capable of lifting RVs and loaded multi-axle trucks. This advanced equipment allows us to provide top-tier transmission services for a wide range of vehicles, ensuring that no matter what you drive, we have the tools and expertise to get the job done right.

Wow, if you need a transmission this place has a warranty that they clearly care about. They want you to bring your car back so they can best honor their own company warranty. That is above and beyond that of the dealerships warranty on the parts. There was a literal voice on the phone, asking me to bring my car in. That they wanted to check it at or around 30 days. The warranty they get is longer than that. This is just, MT wants to make sure it's done right part of the warranty. WARRANTY REVIEW This is about the Warranty they provide on newly installed transmissions. If you were thinking about using them versus anyone else for a new transmission you should read this first.. We have all been punched in the gut and kicked while we are down when it comes when it comes to warranties. Companies would rather close down and move before they honor their warranties. That's why what happened at MT is so shocking. MT slaps me in face with a glove like it's the 1900's then grabbed me by the lapel lifts me off the ground, shakes me looks me in the eyes and says this is how warrantees really work. I didn't know what to say. They MT had just called me because it had been like 28 days and they wanted to inspect their own work. WTH who does that??? They want you to bring your car back so they can best honor their own company warranty. That is above and beyond that of the dealerships warranty on the parts. There was a literal voice on the phone, asking me to bring my car in. That they wanted to check it at or around 30 days. The warranty they get is longer than that. This is just, MT wants to make sure it's done right part of the warranty. Look I have warrantees that warrantee the warranty and no one has ever called me to check that the work they did was flawless. Ever, never try to call a company about a warranty and you get crickets and tumbleweeds. Slap Slap, "Are you there?" Now I see why they need the slaps, you might think your dreaming. MT didn't uproot their shop to avoid their warranty. No, they called, they reached out, they said bring it back we want to check it. See here is where it gets even more surreal, I can't inspect the transmission. I don't really know where it is, so leaving that up to me is not really valid. They didn't leave it up to me, they wanted to make sure it was done right. So I bring it in, this guy in a onesie takes my car drives it, lifts it up in the air and pokes the car with a stick. Then grabs another coworker buddy. They hand me my keys they are smiling from ear to ear, high-fiving each other that they did a superhero job on the transmission and that it's awesome. I am awkward going, "Yay transmission stuff" but these two acting like my older car is the next space shuttle. Wow, if you need a transmission this place has a warranty that they clearly care about. I found them on Yelp if you made it this far you know what to do next.

I highly recommend Miramar Transmissions. I had a 2013 BMW 328i with a transmission error code. I took the car to the BMW dealership to find out the issue. The dealership was unable to reproduce the error and told me just to live with the transmission error. A local German auto repair shop recommended that I take the car to Frank at Miramar Transmission. Frank and his team were immediately able to reproduce the transmission error in test drives and isolate the computer issue. His team was able to fix my car and get it running again without any more transmission issues. Thank you! We will get many more years of use from this car now. Miramar Transmissions does other auto repair work, as well. I plan to take our cars to Frank from now on.

Miramar Transmission gets a well-deserved 5/5 stars for their exceptional service and expertise in handling car transmission issues. I was experiencing shifting problems, such as slipping gears and rough shifts, which are common symptoms of transmission trouble. Bryce, a staff member at the shop, was incredibly helpful, not pushy, and worked with me to resolve the issue. Ultimately, I needed a transmission rebuild. It's important to note that they charge $1,000 to remove and disassemble the transmission for evaluation. This means that it might not be the most practical option if you're looking to diagnose the problem and then move your car to another shop for a second opinion. However, the quality of their work speaks for itself, as my car now runs exceptionally smoothly. I am extremely satisfied with the service provided by Miramar Transmission and highly recommend them to anyone experiencing transmission issues. Their professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction make them a top choice for transmission repair.

I recommend MiraMar Transmission for any automotive repairs transmission service, rebuilt transmission to a rebuilt engine or just a oil change. Ask for Frank Gabase he is very knowledgeable honest and loyal. He is very friendly, professional and cares about all the customers needs. He will let you know straight up on what you need to know about what is wrong with your vehicle with a simple diagnostic reading on your vehicle and what needs to be repaired. The admins staff Mark, Bryce, Dorene, Michelle are very friendly and greet you with a smile and will answer any of your questions and concerns .The mechanics are experienced and careful with your vehicle and treat your vehicle like If it was their own. If you need a ride and don't have time to wait on your vehicle they will arrange a ride for you, Charlie is always available for you. I highly recommend MIramar Transmission for all your automotive repairs and services.

Bought a used car and took it to a local San Diego mechanic (Wolf's Foreign Car Service) for a pre-purchase inspection during the grace period. We brought our 2002 Mustang in for clutch repair. They notified us of other things they found with the car that needed immediate attention and cleared everything through us first before proceeding. My 2003 Tahoe needed a major overhaul. My transfer case and transmission needed a full rebuild. I was referred here by another mechanic shop which shocked me. Anyways, they were extremely professional from the start. I was given multiple options to help with my budget but I decided to get the job done all the way, and I'm extremely glad I did. from a car guy that does not trust auto repair shops much this was a pleasant surprise! had "another" shop perform a trans "service" only to drive away with a nasty whining transmission. hoping it may go away i finally decided to take it to miramar transmission. these guys are top notch,my jeep runs like new and shifts flawless. lesson learned: take your car to the specialized shop in the first place. can i give six stars?

They repaired the transmission on my euro car. Car shifts just like new again. Only downside is that it took a while to get parts in due to shortages and the obscurity of the part I needed. Also, I came in knowing exactly what work my car required and had to stick to my guns to only have that work done. With that said, the price was more than fair for the work rendered. And the repair is still good today, so they know what they are doing, and did an excellent job. Would recommend, especially if you have a unique\dealer-locked transmission.

Look no further for an honest and quality shop. Bryce will take great care of you. I recently closed my own shop in San Diego and moved out of state. I'm very particular with my vehicles and service. I'm so happy to have found this shop to handle anything that comes up when the kiddos are in need. Most recently my sons 08 BMW 328i has been having aging Beemer issues. I was told by 2 shops that I needed a new transmission. I went to Miramar Transmission on a recommendation by another shop. They were very friendly, accommodating and communicative. Frank, the shop owner, was prompt with inspection and diagnosis. Doreen was also great! Turns out it was not my transmission at all, but rather a wheel bearing. Wowza. They replaced my breaks and wheel bearing and my car is driving smooth as butter. They've definitely solidified a repeat customer.

Fair price and outstanding customer service from beginning to end. Nobody wants to have their transmission be the issue, but if it is - Miramar Transmission is the place to go. They even do a recheck at 500 miles for free, that's how much they stand behind their work. I took my very high mileage older Nissan Sentra in and got a new transmission installed and programmed, no delays, done when promised at the agreed upon price. They were honest from the start about worst case scenario and priced out the rebuild for me to make sure I had all options presented. These guys are the best.

My 2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 with sluggish and stuttering and passing conditions . I took it to Frank at Miramar transmission . They checked it completely out fix the problem at a reasonable price .
